Agriturismo Su Vrau

We had a huge room with about six beds, even though there were only two of us. The pool was nice, and the location and view are stunning. The restaurant was okay, though not great. In general, a really nice hotel.

The location still has a timeless, magical feel, and that alone makes me want to come back. We’ve been here almost every year for ten years, and the staff and host family remain very friendly. Breakfast is superb, the new pool bar is fantastic, and the Wi-Fi works great, which matters since I work a few hours each day. We used to give this place five stars, but this year felt more like a solid three when we compared the value with other places. It used to be paradise for families with children, but now weekends bring local extended-family parties, while motorcyclists stay during the week. They’re nice chaps, to be clear. Room prices are on the high side, and rooms vary in size and standard. Dinner can cost a lot for what you get, though some days’ menus still have good options. Vegetarian choices are rare, perhaps part of why it seems less appealing to younger customers. The recent expansion may be taking up the owners’ attention, which is the only explanation we can think of for the decline. We’ll probably give it another chance on our next trip to Sardegna. We love the place, and the owners and staff have the potential to make it top class again.

There’s a lovely pool for cooling off on hot summer days, and breakfast on the patio comes with a beautiful view. The staff are more than friendly, the coffee is very nice, and breakfast is good. The grounds and buildings are beautifully maintained, and the setting is fantastic. Dinner is a set €25 per person, with wine, water, a starter, main course, and dessert, though the nearby village restaurants are also worth a visit and offer good food at fair prices. Since the agriturismo sits on a hill, getting around means walking uphill and down, which can be a challenge. You’ll need your own transport because there’s almost nothing within walking distance. Our room was very small, and the interior needs maintenance; you can tell it gets used a lot and needs repairs from time to time. It’s a shame you can’t order drinks or snacks during the day, as they only serve breakfast and dinner. Still, we’d stay here again if we came back to this area.

The views over Sardinia’s east coast and the castle of Posada are lovely, and the restaurant served very tasty food. The location is in the San teodoro area, on a hillside, so even a simple walk becomes a bit of a journey, especially with kids. Service was great, but unfortunately we needed it far too often. The room we were given had no window, and we had trouble breathing in there. When we asked for a change, they agreed straight away and offered two alternatives. No one had mentioned that our room was above the restaurant, so we heard suppliers arriving before 7am and events being held there that kept us up until midnight or later. Two of the five beds were broken, although one worked after I turned it upside down. The air conditioning broke on two nights in a row when it was around 30 degrees outside. The pool was lovely, with mountain and sea views, but the bees hovering around us made it feel unsafe. For some reason, the elevator in the main building is shut off at night until 8am, so good luck loading your car. Great views and service, but poor facilities and upkeep.
