Arnika

The landscape is so peaceful it almost feels too quiet, and the clean rooms and inviting spa initially make Hotel Arnika seem like a dream in the Dolomites. But the welcome felt cold. From our arrival, the staff seemed apathetic, with few smiles and sighs in response to requests. It left us wondering if we were expected at all, or simply being put up with. The place felt regimented, as though joy had disappeared from it, and the hotel was run out of obligation rather than care.

The location in Val di Fassa makes it easy to get to all the area has to offer, and the facilities are pleasant and well kept. Breakfast had a huge selection, and I really appreciated being able to store my bike on the room balcony. The spa has two saunas, a Turkish bath, a jacuzzi, and a relaxation room, though it’s a bit too dark and only medium-sized. The strict schedules made us feel a little watched: the spa closed at 19:00, with only a few extra minutes at most, and at 9:55 we were asked if we wanted one last trip to the breakfast buffet before staff started clearing it at 10:00. Since the hotel wasn’t very full, a little more flexibility would have made the stay more enjoyable.

The service was excellent. Ali, one of the service staff, has such a kind nature and a lovely personality. It’s rare to meet someone like him in a hotel.

We had a wonderful stay, and the staff made it unforgettable. They were superb, friendly, helpful, and attentive to what guests needed. After skiing, they even offered homemade cookies with tea. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, and dinner was delicious, with two special events each week showcasing local culinary products. The rooms were cozy and very clean, and access to the wellness area was free. It had a jacuzzi, three saunas, and a relaxation room. The free shuttle to and from the ski slopes was available on request at any time, which we really appreciated. Hope to return one day!
