Dinner and breakfast turned out to be a pleasant surprise: the food was tasty and well prepared, good value, and breakfast had plenty of variety. The cleaning and restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. We had a ground-floor room with direct pool access. It was simple, clean and well kept, but apart from two complimentary bottles of water there was nothing extra. No free coffee or tea, or even a kettle. It would have helped to have local sights or restaurant information, or at least the hotel's restaurant menu. Wi-Fi was slow and unreliable. The pool isn’t heated, so it’s only suitable for swimming in warm months, and there’s no poolside service. During our stay nobody checked whether we needed anything or were doing alright. The receptionist was very formal and didn’t give us a hint of a smile. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, though we didn’t mind since we had a rental car. Our stay was pleasant, but nothing special. I’m not sure why it’s advertised as a 4-star hotel, given the amenities, room equipment and lack of attention to guests, which lag behind even lower category hotels. The owners and management seem to be doing the bare minimum and not trying or caring enough. From a hotel in this category, we expect much more.
