Puteoli Palace Hotel

There's a supermarket just behind the hotel, plus plenty of nearby spots for lunch or dinner. The hotel has its own restaurant as well. By car, Naples is around 30 minutes away and Bacoli about 20, with a €1 toll each way. Street parking isn't free, but the hotel offers a parking option. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cozy, with a little fridge for small items. The drinks in it cost extra. Breakfast was simple and tasty, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Thanks especially to Mari for taking such good care of us. The reception is open around the clock, so someone is available to help at any time. A nice place for a short stay.

We booked four nights for a family stay, but after about an hour in the hotel we decided we didn't want to remain there. I told receptionist Bruno that same day, after we had paid. He said he'd check with the manager about a refund, so I went back to the room. Under Booking.com policy, I understood the remaining three nights could be refunded within 24 hours. When I asked Bruno the next day, he said we should leave and that he'd speak to the manager again, who still wasn't there. We left with only a receipt showing we'd stayed one night. I later realized he could have told us on the first day to cancel ourselves through the app. We were new to using it, and I didn't know. I think Bruno knew the policy meant we would lose the money for the other three nights if 24 hours passed. I felt it was unprofessional to let us wait and lose that money. They offered a voucher to stay another time instead of a refund, but I would never come back, so why would I accept it? Based on this experience, I wouldn't stay here again.

The hotel itself is nice, and there’s a little cafe across the road. Breakfast was fine, though more limited than some breakfasts I’ve had in Italy. Don’t take anything from the fridge unless you’re prepared to pay for it. Buses stop outside, and the train station is a 27-minute walk away. Public transport is accessible and cheap, but the hotel is a bit removed from everything. If you’re heading to Naples, Capri, Pompeii, or other sights, expect long journeys by bus, train, or boat. After a full day out, that walk back can feel like a lot. I enjoyed the stay and would consider coming again because the hotel is pleasant, but I’d probably choose somewhere more central next time.

We accidentally booked the wrong location because of a sporting event, but our host reassured us about staying and arranged transport to and from the event. The two rooms had just been renovated and were very clean, and the air conditioning worked great in the extreme heat. We ate at the restaurant downstairs and the food was amazing, with our gluten-free dietary needs taken care of. Definitely would stay again.
