Punta Ala Seaview Apartments

A handy base for visiting Punta Ala's beaches and the surrounding area, close to the port and with a spectacular view. The garage was very convenient, and I liked the tasteful furnishings and attention to detail. The building stairs are a little narrow.

We ended up spending most of the week in nearby Castiglione della Pescaia, about 13 km away, where we finally found the holiday atmosphere we wanted. Around Punta Ala itself, there isn't really a town, just the small port. During the day nearly everything was shut and there were few people; in the evening we tried two or three places to eat, with hardly any shops around. Prices felt high for what was offered, and there didn't seem to be much nearby besides the beach. You'll need a car to get around. There's no walkable supermarket for stocking up, only a very small one for the apartments, with prices above average. For us, the value for money was poor, and we won't be coming back to Punta Ala. The apartment was nothing like the photos on the official website or booking. The kitchen and living room had some visibly new features, but the place was still rather dark and not cleaned properly, apart from the bathroom. An overpowering smell from the old walk-in closet made the bedroom impossible for us to sleep in. It's also a passageway for people from neighboring apartments, so there was little quiet. We slept on the living room sofa bed all week. The TV and the small garden were the only things in that room. The listed coffee maker was missing from the kitchen. Half the garden floor had fake grass, and the other half was some kind of crumbling concrete. We were on the first floor and could see the sea in the distance. There's no air conditioning. The one bright spot was the kind and helpful woman who greeted us. She also fixed a Wi-Fi problem within minutes.

The apartment was spacious, clean, modernized, and finished with real care. The building itself is older, though its exterior and gardens are well looked after. The setting is both scenic and convenient for the port and the sea. There isn't air conditioning, but with the natural airflow in the area, it didn't seem necessary.

That view is the best part, and the location makes it easy to get out to the beaches. We ran into a problem during our stay, but the staff sorted it out straight away. I'd choose this place again if I come back to Punta Ala.
