I ended up booking somewhere else and didn't want to find out how this would turn out. I’d contacted Mrs. Irma around lunchtime on Wednesday about a room for Saturday. She said she’d call that evening with the options, but she didn’t. I tried several times, including Thursday, then got an apology by message on Friday morning. When I called right away, she still couldn’t tell me which room was available. She rang around lunchtime, but still had no answer. She also quoted a different price from the B&B website and couldn’t explain why, then got annoyed when I asked. She said she’d text that afternoon, but nothing had been settled. Make of that what you will.

The fresco covered building sits right in the town center, and we were given a warm welcome. Rooms are spacious, with either shared or private bathrooms. Breakfast is plentiful and can be served in the breakfast room or out on the terrace. The owner is friendly and kind. Nearby there’s a bar, post office, bus stop, small supermarket, hairdresser, bakery, and tobacconist.

There are two reading rooms guests can use, and my host can bring pizza for dinner if asked. I had a comfortable room without a bathroom, though the bed squeaked. The reception was excellent.

The house is very old, and its interior frescoes are really beautiful. Still, I wasn’t too pleased with the shared bathroom or the cleanliness, which could’ve been better.
