A car is definitely needed to reach the place and get around the Chianti region comfortably, though the winding drive has panoramic views at every turn. Castello di Volpaia sits among vineyards and olive groves, with beautiful scenery all around. It's like staying inside a historic winery, and the village has plenty of charm and authenticity. The rooms were spotless, quiet, and decorated in a rustic style that suited the place. Walking the cobbled lanes, trying local wines, and enjoying the countryside made time feel slower here.

Volpaia became our favorite stop in Tuscany, even after visits to Rome, Florence, and the Amalfi coast. This quiet stone village was a peaceful break from the busy cities, and we're already hoping to return. It felt like a special find and good value, with a comfortable, well equipped room, impressive food options for such a tucked away spot, and a beautiful, authentic setting for a Chianti stay. The village is medieval, with original stone buildings restored for wine production and the hotel, alongside guest rooms, suites, several restaurants, a wine shop, and a few private homes. The grounds were beautifully kept. Winery work was going on, but it didn't disrupt us, and actually added to the experience. Walking the streets felt like stepping back into Tuscan history. Lorenzo welcomed us, took us to our room, and showed us how everything worked. He stayed available on WhatsApp, answered our questions patiently, and helped us find restaurants, grocery shops, amenities, and attractions in nearby towns. He also pointed out the best sunset spot, which was magical. Everyone we met was warm, patient, and helpful. Our favorite on site restaurant was “Bar-Ucci”. It's casual, with a fancier take on Tuscan comfort food, tasty cocktails, homemade desserts, and excellent wines at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly, especially Lucreccia (unsure of the spelling), who gave us great service and spot-on suggestions. We ate there every day, and she remembered us and looked after us each time. Breakfast was a generous buffet in one of the stone buildings, with sweet and savory pastries, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, nuts, cereal, yogurt, juices, and eggs and bacon made to order. The two people running it greeted us warmly each morning and remembered what we liked. They made excellent cappuccino and Americano coffee, and even went out of their way to find out the coffee brand when we asked. We also joined Fabio's winery tour. He walked us through the process from vineyard to aging, explaining everything clearly and patiently answering all our questions. His knowledge was impressive, and we learned a lot. Volpaia is only a few minutes by car from Radda, where there are grocery shops, restaurants, stores, and gas stations. Other towns and sights are nearby too, so it's a handy base for Chianti if you have a car. Thanks to everyone at Castello di Volpaia and Bar-Ucci for making this such a memorable family holiday.

Even in winter, my wife and I had a fantastic tour here on our honeymoon. We heard about the village's history and how it became a modern, high tech winery while keeping its original character. The team clearly knows their subject and cares about the place, and the service was excellent. I enjoyed every minute and would recommend the experience. The wine was incredible too, so we bought two bottles to take home to our loved ones. Thanks to the wonderful castello di volpaia team.

We rang to ask whether any tours were available that day, but everything was booked. They were still happy to have us in for a tasting, which was superb. The winery sits in a beautiful spot on a hill, surrounded by what looks like a small village. Afterward, we could buy wines at a discount, including some that are only available at the winery.

We spent ten days in Italy, and Volpaia was easily our favorite stop. Our flight was delayed, so we arrived much later than expected. Lorenzo waited for us, welcomed us warmly, and showed us to our rooms. He also arranged for the restaurant to stay open late so our family of four could eat. That kind of thoughtful hospitality continued throughout our four day stay. People everywhere greeted us with smiles and made us feel like especially valued guests. The village was beautiful, medieval, and spectacular in every way. Our accommodation was comfortable, the views astounding, and the quiet left us relaxed and content. The winery tour and tasting were fantastic too. Fabio led them with real enthusiasm and passion for Volpaia wines. I can't say enough good things about the experience. We're already planning another visit. Thank you, Volpaia, for giving our family a lasting memory.
