Villa Sant'Uberto Country Inn

The staff were the highlight for us, always around when we needed them. Villa Sant’Uberto also has plenty of land, lovely valley views, and a spacious, clean room with a huge balcony. It’s tucked away in a quiet spot among the hills, yet several wineries and small towns are still nearby. Picking a place in Tuscany for wine tasting and scenery can feel like a lot, but this country inn was just what we hoped for. We’d happily stay again.

We only stopped for one night during a road trip, and ended up wishing we had more time. The rooms, service, and location were all great, with a really peaceful atmosphere and a lovely pool area. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, but the fans they provided worked for us. I’d come back if I get the chance.

We left the "villa" almost as soon as we arrived. The two minutes we spent inside were enough to notice how dated it felt, with below average facilities and an old smell throughout. The approach to the property was awful too, with trenches bad enough that you’d need a tank or something similar to get through. The receptionist wasn’t especially polite, and another man, who never introduced himself, was extremely rude and insulted us repeatedly, including in racist terms. It felt close to becoming physical, and he behaved that way in front of our six-month-old baby. I can only feel sorry for him, whoever he was, and hope he gets proper care for whatever condition he may have. This was probably the worst guest experience I’ve ever had, and it seems others have had similar situations. Avoid the place at any cost.

It’s a lovely spot tucked away in the forest, but I wasn’t fully satisfied. We expected a small house and were given just a room, with no appliances. We like having coffee very early, and couldn’t get any from the hotel restaurant then.
