Smeraldo Wellness Resort

This place needs a lot of changes. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The hotel staff were especially rude and impolite to us during an emergency. Rather than help us out, they charged a €60 deposit to use the room just to store our luggage for an hour. We shared our experience on TripAdvisor for anyone who wants the details. The spa may be rated five stars, but it wasn't even up to one, it was filthy, and the staff were poor too. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and genuinely lovely, but everything else was awful. I gave it one star because there was no lower rating.

The place is beautiful, and the staff's kindness and willingness to help really stood out. I had to book during spa maintenance because of personal commitments. Even though I'd bought a very good-value promotional package on one of the major websites, the managers immediately offered other services of equal value to make up for what wasn't available. I was genuinely satisfied and couldn't have asked for more.

The owners were kind, and breakfast was satisfying, even if there wasn't a huge selection. The rest was a letdown. We booked one night with an Emozione3 coupon, and the place looked modern and attractive at first. We arrived at 1:30 PM and were told the room wouldn't be ready before 3 PM. I managed to leave our luggage upstairs, but when we came back at 3, the room was still exactly as I'd left it an hour and a half earlier. We went to the spa, only to find about half of it working. The whirlpool was being renovated, there was no salt in the salt room, no aerosol or aromatherapy, and the herbal tea room couldn't be used because of a fire. We made do with the outdoor pool, which had frogs, then the heated indoor pool, which was no warmer than the outdoor one, followed by the sauna, Turkish bath, and hammam. Back in the room, the hydromassage shower didn't work either. The air conditioning was noisy, so I had to switch it off to sleep, and the TV was tiny. For a five-star hotel, this was a terrible stay. Never again!

The staff are friendly, and that really is the resort's strong point. The spa is beautiful, and the property is spacious and very well cared for. There were some issues, but they weren't the owners' fault. I'd recommend a visit, especially with the renovations planned.
