I won't forget how this was handled, and I won't stay here. Before I even checked in, I was contacted several times and told I needed to arrive by 20:00. I was working at Expo, where I had a shop, and explained that I'd do my best but couldn't control when I finished. On check-in day they said they had to leave before 18:30, so I needed to arrive before 18:00. I said I was still working, and they replied that 20:00 was the absolute latest. Expo ended shortly before 19:00, so I went straight to the property. I parked on the street and tried to find the address with Google Maps, but couldn't. I called and messaged, and the person tried to guide me, but the directions didn't make sense to me. When I explained where I was, they said it was directly across the street. I went there and still couldn't find it. There were two different numbers on the properties, and I checked both directions without success. Then they told me to head toward the train station, but I didn't know where that was. Eventually the person came out to the street and called again. I found the place 100-150 metres from the spot I'd been directed to. They didn't sound in a good mood during the call. I'd booked for one person, but that day it turned out I had to bring my seven-year-old son. I didn't think that would be a problem. When we arrived, the person wouldn't accept us, and we were left standing in the street. They spoke to us very arrogantly. I offered to pay for my son, but was told I should have notified them earlier and that children weren't allowed, as stated on the reservation page. I was shocked by the way they responded. I know it was my mistake not to notice the no-children policy, and I could have checked beforehand, but I honestly didn't expect it to be an issue. I travel a lot and haven't experienced such poor handling of a situation in 20 years. I said, “That's a first for me,” and we left. I wasn't angry or unfriendly; I stayed polite throughout and expected the same from them. I contacted Booking help, explained what had happened, and they arranged a cancellation with no extra charge. I later sent a note through Booking to thank them for understanding and not charging for the cancellation. They replied, “please, shame for the miss understanding.”

Nothing particularly good, but it was acceptable.

Breakfast can be brought to the room if you ask, which was great. The bathroom was spotless, and the owner was kind and attentive with guests while keeping to a clear set of house rules. The property is well cared for and clean, though some extras, like the little terrace, weren't available for organizational reasons. A shame. It's handy for the station and close to the city centre, but the area can be a bit lively.
