Hotel Centrale Byron

The breakfast was the standout, especially the cappuccino and hot chocolate. The rooms are simple, but clean and just right for a night or two.

I had to cancel because a strike made getting to the hotel almost impossible, and I couldn't get my money back. I can't comment on the hotel itself since I never got to stay there. If something like this could happen to you, I'd look for somewhere with a refund option.

The breakfast is on the poor side, and if you arrive late you get the famous "Brioches in the sack." Still, the breakfast room looks straight onto a narrow Italian street, where cars block one another and people shout. A movie maker would love that scene. The rooms aren't too small, and both they and the bathrooms were very clean. The staff are extremely friendly and make the trip into the past feel very pleasant, Italian style. The furniture and wall paintings are enchantingly old-fashioned, like something for a design museum, with a swirling mix of the Fifties and the Seventies. Lord Byron, presumably staying in other houses at Ravenna, might have raised an eyebrow.

Right in the center of centro historico, this hotel made a great base for our three-night stay this August. The room was spacious and spotless, the air conditioning worked really well, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and efficient. Breakfast was abundant, too, with very nice staff. It's one of the best hotels we've stayed at, and we'll definitely come back.
