SLH has lost me as a customer after this stay. If the hotel keeps operating this way, I’m sure plenty of other guests will leave too. The staff were dismissive and unprofessional. They call this a five-star hotel, but my experience was shameful, easily the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

The food at the restaurant was amazing, and the gelato on site was exceptional. Leonardo and the rest of the team made dinner feel like an occasion. We also tried truffle hunting right there and actually found some, which was a really unusual experience. For a slow day, the pool with the mountains behind it is hard to top. The service was beyond what we expected. We had to leave at 6am for a tour, so we asked the desk to arrange transport. They pointed out on their own that we'd miss breakfast and offered to have the kitchen pack breakfast for us. We only needed to remind them at dinner, but when we mentioned the boxes, they said they were already in our room fridge. The AC also gets properly cold. I can't recommend this place enough.

We paid more here than anywhere else in Italy, and got the least out of the stay. The grounds are lovely, the staff professional, and the room was spacious and well equipped, though it felt chilly and uninviting. Breakfast was very good. Dinner, despite following the restaurant director's recommendation, was the worst meal we had during three weeks in Italy. The staff did point us to some nearby restaurants that were exceptional. It's a handy base for day trips, but I wouldn't recommend it.

The rooms and property were lovely, and the pool looked great, but relaxing there was hard with kids splashing and shouting. There aren't any child-free hours, which I've seen at other luxury hotels. Food was a letdown: breakfast was okay, but pizza night was especially bad. Prices were way out of line too, 18 euro for a spritz is astronomical. There aren't many places to eat nearby, so alternatives mean quite a drive. Service generally felt poor, almost like being at a friend's relative's home and not knowing if we were overstaying. There weren't many activities, and when I asked about wine tours before the trip, the response wasn't helpful. It didn't have the small luxury feel we expected, and we won't return.
