B&B La Pineta

The location made it easy to get around: the ferry is about seven minutes away for anyone heading to Sicily, and the train station is five minutes away. It’s also a great area for walking into the centre and finding restaurants and Italian food. I just needed a bed, a shower, and somewhere to leave my suitcase without spending too much, and this B&B suited me well. It’s comfortable, the people are lovely, and I felt at ease there. I’d stay here again if I come back.

My flight was delayed, so I reached the B&B late at night, but the owners were kind and helpful despite the inconvenience. I only spent one night there, and I came away completely satisfied. I’d definitely recommend the place.

The rooms are bright and very clean, even if they’re not modern. What mattered to me was the substance: a great view, a good location, friendly people, and a very reasonable price. It’s just steps from the Reggio Calabria Lido train station and the archaeological museum. I was pleasantly surprised, especially since the property doesn’t have great reviews. For someone like me, without lots of demands or whims, it’s perfect. The rest doesn’t matter.

I slept well in the comfortable bed, and the neighborhood was fairly quiet. There was some noise at 8:30 when breakfast started in the kitchen right across from my room, less than two meters away. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and the location is hard to beat, with a sea view and the Archaeological Museum just a stone’s throw away. The room itself was rather spartan, though. The building and furnishings look like they haven’t been updated in years, with yellow single-glazed anticorodal windows from the 1980s and furniture from the same decade. The air conditioning cooled the room well, but its broken blades meant I couldn’t direct the airflow. The basic bathroom had no shower curtain or hair dryer, and I wasn’t given shower gel.
