Museum Center Luxury

We booked through check24 because the photos looked promising, and communication before the trip was good. Things changed when we reached the building: the street was full of rubbish, though the entrance courtyard led to a tall, bright hallway. Our room was a decent size, as was the bathroom, and the room itself was okay. But the wall plaster was peeling and looked damp, possibly mold. The window looked onto the courtyard, building and parking lot, not the city view we had booked. Both the shower and sink leaked, and changing rooms when we asked would have cost extra. Breakfast was available at the "Chapeau" café, about a ten-minute walk away, and the hotel is close to the center. We’ve stayed in other B&Bs, so had something to compare it with. It wasn’t a good experience.

The outside doesn’t give much away, but the room inside was fairly new and welcoming. The towels and bath sheets were terribly worn, though, and the leaking shower flooded the bathroom.

We had a really unpleasant stay, and it spoiled our week’s holiday in Reggio Calabria. The room wasn’t clean, the shower took five minutes to get hot, then flooded after another five, leaving water up to our ankles while we waited. There was little attention to detail. The owner gave us a frosty welcome and acted in bad faith, without even saying he was the actual owner. Breakfast cost an extra €8 per person per day, for one croissant each and a bottle of water to share. Even the bottles in the room fridge, including the water, were charged. The place seemed interested only in making money from tourists, and I strongly advise against this so-called B&B.

The welcome was excellent, and the hospitality felt exceptional. This newly opened place combines a hotel and guesthouse. It’s been renovated beautifully, with great taste, professional service, and outstanding cleanliness.
