Hotel Saint Lorenz

The staff at Hotel Saint Lorenz made my three weeks there happy: they’re a small team, but very kind, attentive, friendly, and professional. I badly hurt my knee while travelling and needed an elevator, so I was glad to find one. As an American who travels overseas fairly often, I especially appreciated the bathroom’s walk-in shower and good water pressure, which isn’t always a given in older neighborhoods. There’s also an overhead fan, essential during an Italian summer. The hotel feels secure, with a locked front door and someone at reception around the clock. Breakfast was a lovely extra, with local pastries, coffee or cappuccino, juice, fruit, and packaged cereal. Within a couple of blocks are several good restaurants, including Capri, a local pizza and pasta place owned by the same man who owns the hotel. The main park, a piazza with bars and a concert hall, and the high street are all very close.
