We came back for a second stay and had another lovely visit. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including bacon, eggs, and fresh fruit, and the beach bar served excellent food at fair prices. Our beachside room had a lovely terrace and beautiful views, and the bar team made us feel welcome. It’s close to Tropea, and we didn’t find comparable prices nearby. One practical snag: we had to leave at 7am, but both the hotel and beach gates were locked. Nobody was at reception, and our access card didn’t work. We hadn’t been told about this at check-in, so clearer instructions and reliable early access would help. We’ll definitely return.

The view was lovely, but the service was very poor. One receptionist and a woman on the restaurant staff were shockingly rude and unprofessional. It seemed they didn’t enjoy dealing with people. As frequent travelers, we found the experience hard to believe.

The poolside entertainment in spring was lively and fun. Our windows faced the pool, and luckily we were happy to watch instead of needing to sleep. The beach was beautiful, the water crystal clear, and the volcano view was mesmerizing, one of the best spots to see it. Breakfast was disappointing, with a very poor buffet, and the beach shuttle was organized oddly. Those were small drawbacks, though. The atmosphere and that view made the place feel special. Everything else was wonderful, and I’d recommend it.

Avoid this place. Getting to shops or restaurants means taking a taxi, and if you’re lucky enough to get an Uber, it costs 10 to the nearest town. Reception arranged a taxi for 30, then charged 40 after our stay. A trip out to eat could run 80 euros a day. The food was disgusting. I’m not fussy and will eat almost anything, but I lost weight here and could barely get through breakfast without gagging. The coffee was awful instant stuff. There was no free water, just tap water that gave me diarrhea, so more weight lost. The staff were aggressive and wouldn’t help. Ask for a small thing and you get yelled at. That’s never happened in my country, and I’m polite, educated, and well traveled. There’s trash everywhere. I can’t fathom how someone could turn a paradise into a garbage can. Don’t ruin your trip, go somewhere else like Tropea or Pizzo.

There’s a lot of potential here, and they’ve invested plenty in the property. The grounds and pool are beautiful, it’s pet friendly, the beach access is OK, and Tropea is easy to reach. The downsides were the breakfast, which had the same limited, poor quality choices every day and horrible coffee, and the weak Wi-Fi. The rooms also aren’t soundproof, so you hear everything next door, especially loud running water.
