Hotel Consul

We chose this hotel because my partner was taking part in a national swimming competition, and we stayed four nights with two meals included each day. The breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of sweet and savoury choices. We had dinner three times: the first was poor, with overcooked carrots, undercooked potatoes, and a basic sausage-and-potato starter. The next pasta was soggy, overcooked, and salty. The last pasta, served with grated cheese, was much better and cooked al dente. Dessert was either fruit, with a very good selection, or fruit cake. Being there for Notte Rossa meant lively nightlife, with lots of young people around and a fun atmosphere. It also meant some loud groups were staying at the hotel, and one night we were disturbed. When we asked staff to deal with it, they said, “Well, what do you expect? It’s Notte Rossa...” and nothing changed. That response was poor from a hotel, especially since the service from staff during meals had been positive. The room itself didn’t match the much nicer photos on Booking dot com. The hotel should retake them and review what they’re promising. The bed was hard, the room hot, and the walls thin, though the air conditioning was excellent and the shower very good. The beach is very close and has lots to do, including bars and clubs, and Viale Dante, one of Riccione’s main shopping streets, is nearby too, with shops, bars, and restaurants. It’s a lovely city with a pleasant beach. I’d only stay here again for a solo or couple’s trip and eat out in the evenings; I’m not sure the price matches the quality.
