The location.

Breakfast was a highlight, especially the generous selection of sweets served by Mich, and the staff there were so kind and polite. Anna and Luisa were wonderful too, always on hand and doing everything they could for us on the fifth floor. Everyone at reception was flexible with our requests, with the lovely owners overseeing things. The rooms were comfortable, clean, roomy, and had what we needed. You're just steps from the sea, with nearby sights easy to reach. I'd happily stay again.

We paid €800 in advance for seven days, though we only stayed five and a half days for work. The place was untidy, and the COVID-era cleaning was poor. The room mirrors were covered in fingerprints from day one, the shower stall was shamefully black, and the hair dryer was broken from the start and never replaced. The only bright spot was the waiter, who was kind. The night before we left, they brought us a €105 bill for tourist tax and drinks before dinner. After dinner, we went to the lobby with the key, ready to go, and were told, "Where are you going, you have to pay me!" I thought I'd settle the bill before leaving, like at other hotels. The owner, or maybe the owner's father, was incredibly rude. A disgrace. We'll never return.

The new room and bathroom had decent space for four people to move around, but the place otherwise felt terribly dated, with lots of old or recycled things. I booked through the Romagna hotel website and was offered a suite, though it was only a suite in name. I spent a week there with my 2- and 8-year-old children, and I don't understand how places like this stay open. Food was terrible, with the same appetizers every day. The kitchen had no smell. At breakfast I had to hunt for a clean coffee cup, and the cakes and tarts were the same ones I saw on Monday and left there on Sunday. The floor was dirty, the tablecloths were unchanged, and the water carafe was never washed. I had to switch glasses more than once. The room was clean for the first two days, but the sheets weren't changed during our 7 nights. There were never enough towels for everyone, they were always missing. The cook should taste her cousin's dishes before serving them to guests. It doesn't even deserve one star.
