Hotel Laimerhof

The rooms are roomy, and that little fridge came in handy. The TV had no remote, though it was still manageable. There are drink vending machines at the hotel, which can be useful sometimes. It’s a lovely spot with pretty valley views. There’s a well-stocked supermarket down the road, and Merano is close by with lots to explore. For morning coffee, try the small, authentic café beside the “little bakery.”

The owners have kept up this older building and renovated it well. The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff are really friendly, and dogs are very welcome. It’s a family run hotel, with an outdoor playground and an indoor play area for children. I’d recommend it to anyone exploring the region, or just needing a place for one night on the way through.

The place felt incredibly old and creepy, with a 1950s or 1960s style that reminded me of The Shining. Our room and bathroom smelled strongly of sewers, and the staff were odd and unfriendly. We got locked in and couldn’t get out. We had to wait for other guests to open the door, since apparently it could only be opened from outside with a key at night. I regretted booking here. One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

We got in late, but the host found an easy check-in solution. The room was nice and clean. Recommended.
