Villa Il Palagio

Our room was roomy and quiet, with a kitchenette and dining table. There was also an upstairs room we could have rented if we needed space for more guests.

The people working here are special, and our room was cleaned every day. There’s lots of patio-style seating, and the parking is quiet and tucked away from thieves’ eyes. It’s a very peaceful place, though you have to accept the rules of wild life and unstoppable nature. It deserves five stars, but if insects sometimes coming in through the window bother you, four might feel right.

Elisa at the front desk was wonderful, helpful to tourists and full of recommendations from her own knowledge. The young woman running the morning cafe was also very kind and accommodating. Breakfast and dinner were very good. There were several problems with the stay. The rooms were hot, there was no AC, and the thermostats did nothing because we had no control over them. Opening the windows brought in flies and mosquitoes since there were no screens. The elevator was out, so we had to carry all our luggage up four flights of stairs, which isn’t suitable for older guests. The dryer only blew cold air after we paid three dollars to dry a load of laundry, though they refunded us. The phone and some lights didn’t work. We reported them three times and nothing was fixed. A few times a week they played music so loudly that sleeping was out of the question. The location is close to nothing. We were told a shuttle was available, but it turned out to be a friend with a taxi. If you need one, Elisa can give you the card for Taxi Miriam. They’re the best. Extra towels and linen changes both cost extra. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I felt paying guests weren’t being considered when the music was that loud. It only upset people, and I wasn’t the only guest who noticed.

We stayed at villa Palagio from April 27-May 4 2024 for our first trip to Italy and our 40th wedding anniversary. Our two-bedroom apartment was on the third floor, and the elevator was broken. It was 80*, there was no AC, and although they told us to open the windows, there were NO screens. A pigeon had her baby’s in the window flower box, so we couldn’t open them. The room phone didn’t work and some lights were burnt out. I went to the front desk four days in a row to get them fixed, and NOTHING was done. The washer and dryer were in the basement and you had to buy tokens from the office. After washing our clothes, we found the dryer was broken. The office told us to hang everything up to dry in the room. Each person got one bath towel and wash rag for the week. New ones cost $50. The kitchenette had no towel or way to wash dishes. Italy was beautiful, but this place was awful!!!
