Abay

Breakfast was a real highlight, especially the excellent croissants and the big choice of sweet things. There were very few savory options, though, if that’s what you prefer. I stayed at the Abay Hotel with friends. The rooms are a bit old, but still okay. There’s no reception in the hotel itself, so you check in and out next door, which I assume is run by the same owner. During the day the door may be left open, which didn’t feel ideal for security. At night it’s locked and someone is inside to control who comes in. For the low price, it’s decent enough if you’re not expecting much from the rooms. I’d give it 3.5 stars.

The staff at the hotel next door were all very nice, including the cleaning staff. But I can’t recommend the place otherwise. There’s no reception, the rooms are a complete disaster, everything is outdated, and the mattresses gave me back pain. The overall look was awful. To me, this doesn’t feel like a hotel at all, and if you’ve booked somewhere like this, it’s not going to be a fun stay.

At least the breakfast was plentiful and good quality. The room, though, was on the ground floor and very dark, with an automatically lowering blind. It didn’t feel welcoming, and the minimal furnishings weren’t nice to look at. Cleanliness was just about adequate, and the bathroom was tiny.

We were robbed in our room on the night of Saturday, August 26th. The hotel has no reception or security cameras, so anyone can get in. Reception told us there were no cameras and that the security guard had seen two unknown people enter but hadn’t stopped them. Since we didn’t know who they were, we couldn’t file a complaint. Absolutely not recommended 🤮 Shame on you, you’re disgusting, and I hope you close down!!!!!
