B&B Acquario

I stayed from January 26 to 28, 2024. The same reservation was accidentally charged twice, and Airbnb refunded the amount with a full apology. I initially chose not to review the host, despite what I felt was bad faith. Then I saw their review accusing me of smoking in the room, which was an unfounded insult. I’ve never smoked and only drink water, so I felt I had to respond. The property was dirty, with broken furniture and drawers that were stuck shut and unusable. The bathroom was outside the room and had no supplies, not even detergent, which I had to ask for on WhatsApp. The place felt gloomy and smelled bad. The plumbing was substandard, the BTicino outlets seemed to have been out of use for over twenty years, and the bed was very uncomfortable and dirty.

Our stay at Via Acquario 101 was made easy by the owner’s clear instructions for self check-in and check-out. They were reachable on WhatsApp at any time, attentive to guests’ well-being and responsive. The Superior Room was spacious, spotless, and had a large, very comfortable bed. Its bathroom was in the adjoining room for our private use, and was clean, practical, and well equipped. Being near the Palacongressi, in a quiet, tree-lined part of Rimini, and getting good value for money all helped make the stay feel just right.

We booked a week ahead for New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2023, and the owner required payment within 30 minutes. The person managing the property handled everything by phone. Inside the shared entrance there was a video surveillance area, and we used a code to get into our assigned room. The smell was bad throughout the house. The sheets and pillows were dirty, with hair, lint, and sock fluff, and looked as though they hadn’t been changed after the previous guests. Another family near us complained of the same problem. The bathroom in the corridor was also dirty, with dust and hair around the toilet seat. We decided not to sleep there and left. We explained the problems, especially the hygiene, but the owner wouldn’t compensate us. Our New Year’s Eve was ruined. I wouldn’t have let my dog stay there either. Be careful.

For quite a while I stayed at B&B Acquario, mostly because of work, and by the end I was sorry to go. The terrace looked onto greenery instead of concrete buildings or busy roads, which felt especially calming during lockdown. The room was welcoming, clean, and had all the comforts I needed. The whole place was quiet and homely, yet in a really handy location. The owner was discreet and professional, while still being kind and quick to respond to what I needed. Prices were reasonable too, so the 5-star rating feels deserved.
