Hotel Ambassador

The room was smaller than some others, but it was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was filling, with good food and coffee.

The location is handy: cross the street and you’re at the beach, or leave through the back and you’re on a pedestrian street with shops, restaurants, ATMs, bars, and more. The pool area was clean and comfortable, with depths from 0.9 m to 2 m, and you could get drinks at the bar any time. I didn’t try lunch or dinner, since I hadn’t booked them. Service was friendly right from reception, where the welcome felt sincere. I’d forgotten my phone charger, and they lent me one with a smile and no charge. Parking, though, was €40 a night, which I hadn’t expected, so I found a free spot on a nearby street. The room looked recently refurbished and was spotless, including the large, nice bathroom. The marble-look shower finish was imitation, but looked great. My bedroom was clean in every corner, had two balconies, and the AC worked perfectly. The TV was small, but that was only a minor detail. Breakfast was fantastic, with a huge range and staff who were friendly and kept everything topped up.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself was clean. I also found the rooms attractive, though fairly small. Our first room was much too cramped for two, so we moved to a second one, which was better in that respect. Breakfast was pretty good, with plenty to choose from, even though it was the same every day. Parking and sunbeds cost too much, though that seems typical for Italy. The bigger issue was the other guests. They were badly behaved and inconsiderate, and even when staff spoke to them, they just carried on. If you want peace and quiet, this isn’t the place. The nearby guests made the stay so awful that I was glad to go home a day early. I can’t deal with people like that, and the trip was really ruined for me.

There are plenty of bars, shops, and restaurants nearby, and the beach is only 25 meters away. The breakfast buffet was nice, and the staff were friendly. The shower was spacious and had jets. My April visit was a little early, though, since the season starts in May. I’d have given this four-star hotel five stars if its last renovation had addressed the noise between rooms and floors. It was only cosmetic.
