Hotel Elvira

The prices are low compared with the rest of the Riviera, though of course they vary by season and other factors. The owner is available, but the hotel isn’t accessible. It’s close to the beach and promenade, near stop 23 on tram 11. You can’t see the sea from the hotel, though it has a special arrangement with the Acquamarina beach. We ate well, but breakfast was limited to packaged sweet foods, and the times were strict, so an earlier breakfast wasn’t possible. Meal service was quick and informal, and the staff were helpful. We stayed in the second of the two buildings, beside the train tracks and near the playground. Our room was by the elevator and noisy. It was run-down inside and out, unclean, with old furnishings and a small bathroom.

We spent New Year’s Eve here. The hotel was dirty and very run-down. It needs to be torn down and rebuilt. The owner was rude and greedy.

My parents and aunt, all in their 80s, got here yesterday morning and left again that afternoon. The food was awful, and there wasn’t a menu. They decide what’s served, and that’s what you have to eat. At the taps, they had to use unclean glass bottles that everyone shares. The rooms and bathrooms were badly run-down, and there was no cleanliness at all. I hope people read my review and the others before booking, or better, don’t book this hotel. My parents hadn’t read them, and this is what happened.

We’d booked three days for two adults and a small child, but left on the second day. The room was tiny, extremely dirty, and had no crib. The shower had no glass or tray, just a hose and a drain in the floor. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were a nightmare, and the service was terrible. I’d give less than one star if I could. The owner was rude and wouldn’t let us speak. The night before we arrived, he called to say our card didn’t have enough balance and he’d cancel the booking, without giving us a chance to respond. We called the next day to ask what that was about, since there was in fact enough balance on the card for the hotel. He blamed Booking.com and couldn’t explain his rudeness. We also saw many families arrive without finding a room despite having already paid. A terrible experience.
