Hotel Europa

The balcony view was spectacular, though the street could get noisy. The breakfast was great, with lots to choose from, and the WiFi worked really well. The place is basic but very clean and warm, with plenty of towels and a room cleaned every day. All in all, I had a great stay.

The location is central and the cleanliness was good, but I wouldn’t recommend staying longer than one night. The rooms smell more strongly of disinfectant than a hospital. They’ve clearly been repaired and repainted over time, seemingly with whatever materials were available. I booked free parking, but it turned out to be a tiny garage entrance behind the hotel, where at most three cars are squeezed in. It was hard to open the door to get out, pigeons nested there, and after one night the car was covered in droppings. The hotel is listed as 3 stars, but feels like 2 or less. For the quality of service, the price is quite high. It’s not worth it.

The bathroom had a moldy smell, and there were visible damp marks on its outside wall. Dust covered the room, while the old air conditioner was noisy and gave off a strange smell. The hotel seemed like decent value from its listing, but it fell short of our already modest expectations. We’d booked a week before our planned departure to Italy, then learned that the advertised guest parking only had room for two cars at most. We canceled and moved to another hotel. I don’t recommend this place. There are surely much better options in the area for the same price.

I’d read the reviews and wasn’t sure what to expect, but I wasn’t as disappointed as I’d thought. The receptionist wasn’t especially attentive. Still, for one night while passing through, it was fine. My room was clean and spacious, and it was what you’d expect from a typical 2-star hotel. If you’re after something palatial, you’ll need to pay more. For the bargain price I paid, I was happy enough.
