Hotel Ivette

There’s barely anything here besides dirt. The room was unclean, there was no fridge, air conditioning, or TV, and the place felt ugly and uncomfortable. The bathroom was cramped, with the shower awkwardly high up and water falling into the toilet. There wasn’t room to wash properly. There was also a risk from wasps and bats, and I was personally stung by a wasp.

The room was tiny, with the shower right beside the toilet and no air conditioning, so washing comfortably was difficult. This is advertised online as three-star, but it doesn’t even feel like a hostel. The street is closed and there’s no parking. You have to enter a restricted traffic zone (ZTL), and the owner couldn’t tell me whether the cameras were active. I hope I don’t end up with four or five fines. Booking included breakfast, but the owner said breakfast wasn’t available.

We only stayed two nights because of an emergency, but the room was small and dirty, and the clogged shower looked likely to flood it. The bathroom was tiny and short on toilet paper. Nobody had made up the room, so we had to use the previous day’s dirty towels. There was no chair, not enough room for one, and no curtains. The windows were dirty too. Horrible, filthy, poorly maintained, whatever this place calls itself. Avoid it, even in an emergency.

For the amount we paid, I think the value was excellent. You need to keep the price in mind and not expect the services of hotels that cost much more. It suited us perfectly: a clean bed and a bathroom that worked, without spending a fortune. My friend and I stayed three nights for a four-day beach break and had a really enjoyable time. The hotel is just steps from the sea, with Bagno Paola beach club nearby offering excellent prices through its agreement with the hotel. There’s also a well-stocked mini market where we bought lunches to take to the beach. The manager we met was kind and helpful. I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews.
