Hotel Mon Reve

The staff were friendly during my six-day stay, but the room felt cramped, with only a bed, a bedside table, and a wardrobe. Breakfast was meager, just a few puff-pastry croissants and some packaged pastries. The hotel is in a rather isolated, neglected area.

Our family vacation was ruined. The photos on booking.it bore little resemblance to the property, and if I’d seen the rooms first, I wouldn’t have paid even half the amount. The place was filthy and run down: dusty furniture, mold on old painted walls, crumbling plaster, rusty beds with broken frames and sagging steel wires. The toilets were old, and the seat and lid were fastened with plastic ties instead of ordinary screws and bolts. Some of my family had frequent asthma attacks. We found chewing gum on a wall and a fake fingernail between the sheets. Our neighbors showed us an uncovered electrical box with exposed wires in their room. Hot water was unreliable. There was no refrigerator, no bedside tables, and no parking. The breakfast buffet was perhaps half the size shown in the photos, and the open bottles of water held still water, not sparkling. The receptionist, Cinzia, asked for prepayment at check-in. When I complained, she denied doing so, saying she was only an employee and that we could easily have paid at the end of the stay. Horrible experience. One to forget.

Booking through Booking.com was a huge mistake. We were taken in by photos of rooms that apparently weren’t even the ones in the hotel. The rooms were pitiful, while the service was beyond reproach. Staff were rude and uneducated, and Mrs. Cinzia asked us to leave a good review for a hotel that didn’t deserve one. We found fake nails with glue in the sheets, dusty furniture, chewing gum stuck to the walls, wrecked furniture, windows that wouldn’t close, and filthy floors. A truly disgusting stay. I’d give it less than one star if I could.

The building is dated, but everything was clean and well looked after. The hotel is just steps from the sea, and the homemade breakfast had a great variety. I had a lovely two-night stay, made even better by the warm hospitality of the owner Cinzia and her daughter Gloria. Their kindness and attention to my comfort made those two days feel memorable.
