Hotel Metropole

The kindest person there was the cleaning lady on our second floor. We stayed four nights and had to ask reception about things like breakfast and pool hours, since there was no written information. Nobody had told us about the €150 deposit beforehand, either. The smiling girl at reception kept forgetting which room we were in, even though she saw us about a hundred times a day.

The price was reasonable, and some staff were friendly and helpful, though others weren’t as accommodating. I was disappointed to find rust in the bathroom shower. Also, I was only told three hours before arrival that parking would cost extra.

A pool and a beachside location are nice to have here. Breakfast was okay, and the parking felt a bit expensive. For a proper Italian coffee, ask Vincenzo, the machine coffee is a disaster. I recommend it.

There’s no soundproofing at all. I could hear the neighbours talking, their alarms, and their phones, so I was glad I’d brought earplugs. The room itself was very old, with old furniture and a mouldy smell, or maybe it was the furniture causing it. Reception blamed the bathroom, but the bathroom was more than okay and better than the room. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. But the shower wasn’t clean when I checked in, and I took a photo of the used shampoo. On my last morning, I couldn’t sleep because housekeepers were making a lot of noise just outside my room. Reception said they couldn’t be working before 8, but after trying to fall asleep for 30 minutes I took a photo of how noisy it was. The other room had checked out, so it seemed they decided waking me up early on my last day was no problem.
