Hotel Paloma

The room was disappointing: four beds left no room for clothes or bags, and the narrow closet in the corner had a small table. The balcony was barely big enough for two. The hotel is old and badly needs renovation, with things falling apart, including the elevator, where there was barely room for one bag. Cleanliness was satisfactory and breakfast okay. The good parts were its beach location and the really nice, helpful staff who gave us the information we needed.

It’s a very cheap hotel and the location is okay, though there’s only a tiny public beach nearby, so it isn’t that convenient. There’s no actual air conditioning. Each room has a different kind of cool-air blower, but it isn’t connected to vents, so hot air comes out the back. My room reached 27 degrees, and the unit was noisy too. Parking is too small, and the hotel is understaffed. The very nice woman at the front desk also had to serve as barmaid, parking assistant, and contact person, so our check-in took over 45 minutes. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I went with my family and it was a very bad experience. The rooms were tiny, and two people could barely fit in a double room. Breakfast was supposed to run from 8-10am, but the food was gone by 8:30. When we complained, the receptionist said, “you get what you pay for,” and that we should go to an expensive restaurant for breakfast. The morning receptionist was cruel, acting as if a cheap hotel and restaurant meant she didn’t need to understand what a buffet is. Nobody should ever go to this hotel.

The price felt fair for what you get. The staff were lovely, breakfast was small but pleasant, and the room was kept clean and tidy. The Wi-Fi was really bad, though, and there wasn't a fridge in the room.
