Villa Sorci

We paid 420 euros for our stay on 15 August in Italy, and I expected much better. The parking area was awful, with no lights at all and a deserted, ghost-town feel. The photos on booking sites look years old and don’t show what’s there now. The walls were ugly and dirty, the closets creaked, and the blankets seemed caked in dust. I can’t understand the good reviews, and I wouldn’t recommend this place. Our room had no air conditioning, and within five minutes a large wasp or mosquito was in there. The beds were split between two rooms even though there were three or four of us. The bathroom was uncomfortable and filthy, with a showerhead over the toilet and sink, and the windows were open at the top so insects could get in. At least they supplied body and hair wash. The staff didn’t handle criticism well. When I complained directly to one staff member, he went quiet. The whole experience was disappointing and unprofessional. This is a literal 2-star hotel, and the place should be looked at before it’s rented out again.

The rooms were clean and the beds really comfortable. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the beach was only a 2-minute walk away. There’s always something to do nearby, and the area feels open and welcoming to foreigners.

Good value for the price. The room was more spacious than I expected and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and gave us several ideas for day trips and places to eat. I wish we’d had breakfast there, though the Wi-Fi wasn’t working during my stay. Hopefully that’s been fixed.

We went to visit friends staying at the hotel. We greeted the owner with “ciao” and everything seemed fine, with no warning or rules explained to us. Around 10-15 minutes later, he knocked on their door, barged in without hearing us out, and aggressively told us to leave. We tried to explain we were only visiting briefly, but he wouldn’t listen. He was sarcastic and disrespectful, called us “London princesses,” and made assumptions about where we were from, even though he didn’t know. It felt hostile and humiliating, and to us it was xenophobic. This wasn’t about breaking a rule. We felt we were treated this way as women and foreigners. If basic decency matters to you, don’t stay here.
