Hotel Felix

The location is a real plus, close to the sea, and the owners were kind and ready to help. Reception stays open around the clock, which came in handy. I spent two weeks at Felix and came away with a pleasant impression, though I’d call it a solid three-star hotel rather than a fashionable one. The rooms vary. We switched rooms during our stay, and both were small, as I’d read beforehand, but that wasn’t a major problem. Our first room was on the 0 floor and had new furniture and plumbing. Its balcony faced the nearby building, which was so close that the room felt airless. The pillows weren’t good either, but the host replaced them without fuss. A few days later we moved to a room with a better view, though still no sea view. It was older, including the furniture, plumbing and TV, but had a larger balcony. The mattress was awful, and I barely slept that first night. I dreaded having to ask for another room, but the host fixed it easily by replacing the mattress. I appreciated how attentively they handled my requests and concerns. One thing I had to ask for was shampoo and soap, and our towels weren’t changed throughout the 2+ weeks. We only had breakfast included. It was fresh and nice each day, though the choices were limited, with one kind of cheese and no eggs or crepes, for example. We tried dinner once: the selection was small and the vegetables looked a bit sad, but the food itself was tasty. For the price, I’d rate it 3*+ and good value.
