A few things stood out: the location was great, breakfast was decent, and the staff were friendly. Parking in Rio is limited and costs €35/day, so it was a real plus that they helped us book a spot for €20/day. They also had a porter to help with our bags. We were first given the second floor, but when we mentioned that the elderly people in our group had trouble with the stairs, they moved us to the ground floor straight away. The only drawback was the bathtub size, which wouldn’t suit someone tall or heavy.

We booked at the last minute and don’t usually choose 2 stars hotels. The rooms, beds, and bathroom were clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d prefer completely white bedding, but it was clean. The towels could be better, and checkout is at 10:30am. It’s a nice area between the center and parking.

We stayed in Nov - 2011. Keep in mind that Cinque Terre is made up of old, picturesque towns with very old buildings. If you’re expecting Hyatt type commodities, you’ll be disappointed. Our room looked out over San Giovanni and had a great view. It was clean, safe, reasonably priced, and a decent size by European standards. There was free Wi-Fi and breakfast, and we loved the atmosphere in the morning kitchen. Restaurants and mini-markets are right next to the hotel. The train station is within walking distance, though the town is on a slope, so expect some uphill walking. The staircase is tiny, though we expected that. If you’re visiting in winter, do your food and water shopping in the morning, since shops close early in the afternoon.

The girl working there was so nice and helpful, and there’s a tiny, cute outdoor seating area. They had a menu with pizza margherita, a soft drink, and an espresso for 10 euros.
