Country House il Ciliegio

We spent a week here at the end of September and loved it. The city and the views are awesome, with some nice restaurants nearby, and the pool was great. Breakfast is basic, but since there’s a kitchen, we could get anything else we wanted. It was great that we could always get in touch with the hosts.

I dreamed of a Tuscan holiday, but if I’d known what to expect, I would’ve chosen somewhere else. You have to pay extra for just about anything you ask for. Even a cheap bottle of Prosecco in the fridge isn’t a welcome drink, it costs 10 Euro to start. Extra towels, milk, eggs, any food, all charged separately. Fine, I guess, no money, no funny. The worst part was the lack of air conditioning. It was 40 degrees outside and probably around 30 inside, and I hadn't thought to check before booking. The landlady said there was a cooler, hidden in the wardrobe, and came to help turn it on. We put ice blocks in and switched it on. When we got back, half the bedroom floor was covered in water. Our kid stepped in it and slipped, and the leaking machine was still plugged into the wall. Dangerous, miss Eleonora! But we survived. The next day we sat by the pool listening to music on a phone. It was so quiet that we forgot it was playing while we talked. Then one of us got a call saying we were too loud and this was a quiet area. We switched it off right away. We’re nice and friendly people and like a family atmosphere wherever we go 🥰 That didn’t last long. Every night, there was what seemed like a party for at least 30 teenagers right beside our bedroom window. They raced Vespas, smoked weed, and shouted like mad. That’s cool, you know, family holidays 😉 We tried to leave the window open because there was no air con, but after half an hour of feeling like someone was drifting a Vespa right by our ear, we gave up. For the rest of the nights, we cooked in the heat and cooled down with cold showers. Nice experience, but I rate it 1 ⭐️ out of 10. I won’t even get into the charge for the old broken lamp, which had been glued with school glue 😅. We put our floaties around it to keep them safe, after the landlady told us there were strong winds and we should protect lightweight things. Maybe that’s how this business works, but it left a bad taste. Thank you, not thank you.

An incredible place with the best service. These guys are the best, and we’ll definitely stop by again.

Breakfast was perfect, and the view and location were lovely.
