Bed and Breakfast Val d'Oche

Breakfast was plentiful and varied, though I would have liked to see more local things like hazelnut cake, baci di dama, cornmeal pastries, or robiola spread. We had a great four days here, and the welcoming atmosphere felt like being part of a big family, with everyone chatting, sharing ideas, and helping out. Francesca helped us plan our Langhe tours and took care of the booking before we arrived. The host was kind to our son, telling him funny stories about the Asti and Alba battles and Langhe traditions, and everyone was attentive. The welcome treats included chocolates and water, and they kept bringing water whenever we needed it. We stayed in the pink ground-floor room. There was plenty of space for three, and it had everything we needed, including extra pillows and blankets. One issue was that the curtains let in the dawn light, so the shutters had to be closed from outside. On a very windy evening, Renato helped my husband secure them. The country house has a lovely view and breakfast is included. It felt like good value, with a convenient spot for exploring, while also being peaceful and relaxing away from the city center.

The owners were welcoming and friendly, and were glad to tell us about events nearby. Breakfast was varied and good quality. Set among the Langhe hills, the property has a real rustic charm. The rooms are well kept and seem to have been renovated a few years ago. Cleanliness was good, and we appreciated having plenty of towels.

They gave us all the keys we needed so we could come and go independently, and even had breakfast ready when we had to leave early. The hosts are so sweet, it feels like visiting your grandparents in the countryside. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had a window.

An informal B&B in a converted rustic house, with triple rooms, set in an isolated spot right by a valley. We stayed two nights in early June during our motorcycle tour. The unsettled weather left the place damp and chilly in the mornings, and the heating wasn't working, not even in the bathroom. Breakfast was self-service coffee and tea, no milk, plus a few packaged snacks. Given what was offered, the price felt above average.
