We arrived in our motorhome at the end of September, and the place felt like a ghost town. It was completely empty, and really should have been closed. We were quoted one price, then given a different one at another window. After reaching our pitch, we walked to the equally empty pool, where there were about 80 sunbeds. I sat on one and the lifeguard told us it cost extra. That was the last straw, so we decided to leave. Reception wouldn’t refund us or apologize for what felt like deceptive practices. They said we should have seen the notice outside. We replied that this was the first campsite where we’d been asked to pay for a sunbed, and we don’t go around looking for notices just in case the moon comes out. We left and went to " CAMPING VILLAGE FABULOUS" instead. The pitch was almost half the price, and the site really was fabulous. It was mostly full of young students, with a great atmosphere, busy restaurants, and lots of takeaway food. There was a full orchestra party for the students on their last night.

We had a great stay at this campsite, and there were nice restaurants just outside it. Everything else was nearby too. Rome was easy to reach by car, and we parked in the city centre for four hours while walking around, paying only €11. The one drawback was extra charges that weren’t clear upfront, such as paying for air conditioning each day. I’d rather have that included in the price. We’ll definitely come back.

The pool was noisy and not relaxing. We paid 45€ for access for all three days, and had to put up with loud music and people shouting into a microphone, not even in English so everyone could join in. Some quieter music would have been much nicer. There were several other unexpected charges. On arrival, we were given a total that was said to include tourist tax, but when it came time to pay, the tax had been added on top, along with a service charge for cleaning and maintaining the site facilities. The staff weren’t especially service-minded, though a couple of them were nice enough.

The pools were the best part, though they were a 15-minute walk from our lodge and sunbeds cost extra. You also have to buy a swim cap to use the pool. There wasn’t much to do in the evenings, and the food was lackluster. Costs kept adding up: WiFi was 5€ for one day, if it worked, so for a family of three staying three days that would be 45€. Bedding was another charge, tourist tax came to 100€, and sunbeds were 15€, unlike places where they’re free. Staff were mixed, with some helpful and kind, while others wouldn’t help at all. It was a disappointing stay.

Getting into Rome was harder than we expected. The shuttle buses had to be booked in advance and weren’t available on demand. We picked the site for access to central Rome and the beach, but the booking process was clunky and didn’t give us confidence, so we drove instead. The signature pool shown as the lead photo in the ad was closed, and I couldn’t see why. The campsite is on the flight path into Rome Airport. Pool users need a cap, and sunbeds cost extra. The restaurant was slow, expensive, and average. Drinks were self-service from one payment point, which often meant queues; the shop also struggled when demand was high. It was okay, but there are better places for the same money.
