The only real plus I found was how close it is to Termini. The room felt old, the floor was dirty, and there was rubbish left in the drawers. Wi-Fi was slow, the toilet flush was very loud, and one of the three sockets didn’t work. Shampoo and shower gel weren’t topped up daily, even though I stayed several nights. Air conditioning cost €3 a day. From Monday to Saturday I had breakfast at the café downstairs. On Sunday the landlady made it. I’d told her the day before that I needed breakfast at 7:30 because my train left at 8:20. I was still waiting until 8:00, leaving just five minutes to get it sorted. It felt like she’d deliberately held me up. I can’t think of any other advantages.

It’s a quiet, clean and reasonably priced place, and it’s near the station on the nicer side. I hardly saw the hostess, so I can’t say much about her, though she seemed nice and helpful. The toilet was the part I wasn’t comfortable with: guests shouldn’t be expected to put toilet paper in a bin instead of flushing it. If the toilet can’t handle much, asking people to use as little as possible would be better. I get that some guests ignore no-smoking signs, but the red posters in the room gave it an unsettling feel. Even so, I’d still recommend staying here.

Meret is really sweet, and the room, service and location were all great. I liked that she mostly kept to herself. That did make it hard to get more toiletries when we needed them, though, since she wasn’t easy to find.

I couldn’t get in touch with the owners by email or any other way, and communication from them was basically nonexistent. The owner was rude, and the room wasn’t very nice. There wasn’t even a blanket on the bed. Worst place I’ve stayed in Rome.
