The location was the only good part. It was central and close to the city center, but that didn't make up for how bad the stay was. The host was rude and disrespectful from the moment we arrived, and showed no professionalism. We were charged extra for late check-in and for leaving our luggage in an unsecured area that other people could access. Our room was dirty, smelled bad and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. We even found bed bugs in the beds. We messaged the host, but the reply came a day later and offered no solution. There were only body towels, with no hand or face towels, and the bathroom door frame kept coming loose, which made it inconvenient and unsafe. The elevator was out of order too, so we had to climb to the sixth floor. For the price, this place is a disgrace and absolutely not worth the money. We left angry, uncomfortable and deeply disappointed. If I could give zero stars, I would.

The elevator kept having problems, so sometimes we had to use the stairs to reach the rooms on the sixth floor. Inside, the rooms were poorly maintained: the walls were thin and cracked, the towels smelled unpleasant, the bathroom looked dirty and the hose leaked. The bed wasn't big enough for two people. We asked for the A/C remote but weren't given one. The host said they don't use the A/C at that time of year, mid-October, and pointed to the rainy weather as an excuse.

The location was fairly central and close to the city center, but that alone couldn't make up for the experience. The host spoke to us in a very disrespectful, unpleasant way, and we were made to feel unwelcome as soon as we arrived. The elevator was out of order, so we had to climb all the way to the sixth floor. We were also charged extra for late check-in and for leaving our luggage in a space other people could access without security. We messaged the host about it and got a reply the next day, but no solution was offered. At the price they ask, this place is an absolute disgrace and not worth the money. We left angry, uncomfortable and deeply disappointed.

The owner made our stay at Bakirooms especially pleasant. We arrived around 20h30, quite late, but he spent about an hour explaining Rome, places to visit, restaurants he recommended, how public transport works and the cheapest ways to get from point A to point B. He gave us a handy map that we used every day, and together with Google Maps it made getting around easy. We didn't see him often, but whenever we did he was positive and friendly. He's incredibly welcoming, and I definitely recommend the hotel. Bakirooms is on the top floor of a large building, with a nice view over the city. The neighborhood felt a bit strange, but we didn't feel unsafe. The elevator is old and small, though it works fine. Inside, the lounge and kitchen area and the rooms are fairly modern and clean compared with the rest of the building. There's a big balcony where you can have breakfast with a view, but breakfast isn't included when you book a room. The rooms have air-conditioning, which was great. The shower water tended to change temperature on its own, even when we didn't touch the handle. All in all, a decent hotel.

The stay ended with us being told to leave because we asked for fresh towels and a bed sheet. It was shocking. First, we realized someone had entered our room because the bed had been made, but nobody had told us in advance. They hadn't replaced the towels or sheet, either. Our belongings, including towels and clothes, had been touched and moved. We didn't understand why they came in to make the bed and handle our things if they weren't providing fresh linen, and we were concerned that sensitive information, such as our credit cards, might have been seen. We politely asked the owner to let us know before coming in next time, and said we appreciated the service since they may have meant to make us comfortable. Hygiene matters a lot to us, so we also asked for fresh towels after ours had been touched. The owner then said we couldn't stay there anymore because they felt accused and said our message was inappropriate. We have screenshots showing that our messages were polite, with no cursing. We're checking the regulations around data security and may post the screenshots if possible. Even if the cleaning was done with good intentions, the owner's response was unacceptable. We were rudely asked to leave, which ruined the rest of our days there. We were left with our luggage and had to look for a new place. The flat's price for what it offers and its location are okay for a few days, if you don't mind an unexpected visit or a rude owner.
