Best Western Hotel Astrid

Really good value. The rooms were well equipped, breakfast was excellent for the bargain price, and they arranged affordable transport for us. The location worked well too, with reasonable walks to the usual sights. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful.

The breakfast team were so friendly, and the lovely breakfasts, coffee and juices kept us going for our busy days. There’s also an amazing little shop/mini supermarket next door with fresh produce. We spent four days at hotel Astrid and found it clean, quirky and mostly quiet. It’s in a lovely Roman/italian area just outside the main attractions, which suited us. We enjoyed the walk to the Vatican and elsewhere, around 50 minutes, because there was so much to look at, and there’s a bus stop just around the corner too. The breakfast girls were the one bright spot. They were very good and so nice, and I think they’d be better suited to the front desk. Service there and around the rest of the hotel was very bad. The rooms felt claustrophobic and small, the showers were tiny, and the water pressure was poor. There’s a small elevator too. They need better front desk staff. Good luck to anyone staying here. If zero stars were possible, that’s what I’d give.

We enjoyed sitting out on the balconies in the afternoon, using the hotel’s free coffee machine with all its different options. The continental breakfast costs €8 and is served in a fifth-floor dining room with lovely views, and there are two tables outside. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, with great views, and the hotel is nicely situated right on the Tiber.
