The location is great for visiting Rome’s main sights, but we had a bad stay and wouldn’t recommend it. We’d been promised a private bathroom, yet were put in a single room with a sofa bed and a shared bathroom, as the website showed. The shower barely trickled and kept swinging between freezing and just bearable. We also had to ask for breakfast to be replenished.

There are only four rooms, and the bathroom is shared by everyone in the hallway. The photos don’t match what the place is really like. When we arrived, there was no front desk, so I called the owner and then waited outside with my family for two hours before a random guy showed up. I was upset because the description seemed mostly false and asked for my money back or a decent place that matched the pictures online. The staff were extremely rude, raised their voices and yelled at me in Italian. There were five to seven of them, and their behavior got frightening enough that I worried about my family’s safety. I wish I could give this place zero out of a hundred.

They weren’t there at the agreed check-in time, and after we arrived they asked for extra fees, even though our reservation for two people had been confirmed. They were unfair and didn’t provide what they had promised. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place.

A nice place, though it could be cleaner. The breakfast is awful.

The only positives I can point to are that the room had what I needed to live comfortably and the location was useful for reaching the city’s main tourist areas. I’m sharing the rest of my experience so people can make up their own minds, and I hope anyone who stays has a better time than we did. My partner and I spent four days there after being told we’d have a private room with a private bathroom. That wasn’t what we experienced. The place has no view, the shower was broken, and there was no real privacy or soundproofing. We could hear every little noise, including people using the shared bathroom beside the main bedroom, the one guests pay the most for. When the house is full, as many as ten people may be going in and out of that bathroom all day, and groups can make a lot of noise. It’s uncomfortable, though I suppose it depends on who else is staying. The first day there was no breakfast until they went out to buy it, and when it did arrive it was meager. Construction was happening in the building next door, behind the wall facing our room. It started at 9 a.m., making it impossible to rest after that. The staff entered our room without telling us first, saying a technician was coming. We then found our suitcases moved and locked away. Nothing was missing, but it left us shaken and wondering if someone had broken in. In Spain, this is called trespassing. We also left olive oil, two cold beers and a bottle of mineral water in the fridge or on the stove, and they were taken. I’m not upset about the value of those items, but I paid for them with money I earned, and I shouldn’t have to deal with things being taken in a place calling itself a “HOTEL.” The woman who runs it threatened to report us for saying on Booking.com that our oil and beer had been stolen. I’d forgotten to mention the water in that review. Communication was difficult. She speaks only Italian and doesn’t understand English or Spanish, so have Google Translate ready or take a course. She initially seemed polite and friendly, but once we told the truth as we saw it, she threatened us and wouldn’t acknowledge mistakes. She accused us of lying and threatened to sue over my 100% honest Booking.com review, even though it was anonymous. I’m not trying to harm the business, but a negative review can have that effect. I won’t hide what happened because of threats. If she’d politely asked us to remove the review, we would have done so. Given her reaction, I want people to know what we experienced, without embellishment or sugarcoating. Even if she sues me, I’m free to give my opinion. This is my experience. I hope yours is better. Regards.
