Caracalla Room Rental

The worst part came later, when the property demanded payment for all three nights and even called me a fraud. Booking stopped replying and offered no compensation for the trouble. I eventually paid only for two nights, plus €30 in costs. Now they say they never had a guest like me, but they did, and I can provide the reservation number. I just want the truth, and I'd like to forget this whole experience. I booked three nights and arrived late, around 10 p.m. I had told them the day before, but got no reply and was left out on the street. I called Booking, but they couldn't help, so I spent the night sleeping on an airport bench. The next day, after I contacted Booking again, they said I'd get a refund. I did eventually get it, though not right away. On the second day the property finally responded, and I arranged the remaining two nights. Too bad it couldn't happen on the first day. For this price, I wasn't expecting much, and that would've been okay, but the photos don't match reality and the walls are extremely thin, just panels. You can hear even slightly noisy neighbors, so you won't sleep. Booking was no help when I needed it.

The quiet, condominium-style setting felt secure. But I paid 35 euros for cleaning, and over my four nights the room was never cleaned, the sheets were never changed, and I used the same towels from day one. A woman did clean, but apparently only the kitchen and shared bathroom, even though my room had its own bathroom. There was hair under the blankets when we arrived. The beds were two singles pushed together to make a double. They weren't fixed in place and separated during the night, leaving a gap in the middle that made sleeping very uncomfortable. The shared kitchen had no microwave. The bathroom needs updating. The bathtub drain was blocked, so I had to stop showering several times and wait for the water to drain before continuing. When I raised it with the person in charge, she said it was normal and that I just had to wait, instead of fixing it. The old shower head dripped onto the rest of the bathroom floor, and the shower itself was very narrow, as shown in the attached photo.

We couldn't get a proper shower because the drain didn't work at all. The bathroom was dirty, and the mattress and sheets were already dirty when we arrived. There was constant screaming from upstairs, so we couldn't rest. The room was terribly unclean.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and lots of tourist sights are just a short walk away. The location was great.
