We had the balcony room and absolutely loved it. My girlfriend and I had a great stay, and the hosts were very helpful. The room was clean and tidy. You can walk to the center, though be ready to do plenty of walking in Rome. The tram and train station are only a three-minute walk away, which is all you need. I’d recommend it and would stay again.

Our room was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed, including tea and coffee. The location was very good, close to Trastevere, with quick access to places by tram, metro, or train. There are plenty of great pastry shops, fast food places, and supermarkets nearby. The people hosting us were friendly and helpful, with recommendations for public transport, food, and places to visit. We had a great experience and really appreciated their hospitality. We highly recommend Valla 18 guesthouse.

You’ve got what you need here to feel at ease during a Rome stay. The place is small and lovely, and it’s close to the station and tram 8, which goes straight to Piazza Venezia. I’d recommend it for the location near the center.

Valla18 is well placed if you’re mainly eating around Trastevere, though reaching the city center means a 40-minute walk. The tram through the area is an option, but it’s crowded at pretty much any hour. It’s cheap, but I didn’t feel the stay was worth the price, especially with the poor upkeep. The rooms seem to have been left as they were when first completed, and the ventilation grille looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months, maybe years. The high ratings seem mostly to come from that earlier period. The room itself was disappointing: a very hard, uncomfortable bed, a desk that was nearly falling apart, and a sink barely sticking out from the wall. Service was mediocre too. The woman who welcomed us spoke very little English and switched to Italian when she didn’t know a word. The man speaks English well but was rarely around. One thing to know, the tourist tax has to be paid in cash. Valla18 could work if you don’t have a better option, but if you do, I’d pick somewhere else.

The hosts were so kind and attentive to guests, and the place was clean and comfortable throughout. It’s also very close to the center and Trastevere station. I’d definitely recommend it.
