Hotel Cilicia

The hotel is about 3 km from the centre, and getting there means taking a bus. The stop is a seven-minute walk away. It’s an older place, and although our room was spacious, it seemed dusty. The windows faced the road, so it was noisy even at night. I wouldn’t have breakfast here. The selection was meagre, the bread and pastries weren’t tasty, and all we ate was bread with butter, some cheese, and coffee. I’m vegetarian and didn’t like the breakfast at all. There are a couple of bars near the bus stop towards the city centre where you can get a delicious breakfast. Next time I’ll definitely look for another hotel.

We found bed bugs in room 118. My girlfriend had bites on her ankles, and we saw the bugs ourselves. After our stay, we even found one in our luggage. Avoid this place.

I’m glad I took a chance and booked three nights after reading most of the reviews. It’s a three-star hotel built in the 1950s, at least according to what I found online, so that’s the basis for my review. Getting in from the airport by public transport took under an hour, and the trip from the hotel to central Rome was 20-25 minutes. The hotel is a bit dated, but it was clean. My room had a small shower, and the water drained slowly after about 10 minutes of use. I don’t spend longer than that in the shower, so it didn’t bother me. Given the age of the building, it was understandable, though the bathroom could use fresh mastic sealant. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve had, but it was good enough for a decent sleep. The pillows, though, were amazing. The staff were polite and helpful, and everyone spoke English, which made things easier. There was enough choice for a nice breakfast, though the coffee wasn’t the best, maybe just a matter of personal taste. I’m pleased I booked this hotel.

They were kind enough to let me into a room around noon, even though check-in wasn't until 3pm. The receptionists were really helpful. The room was tidy, and breakfast was nice. It could use a kettle and a bottle of water, though. On my last day, the staff also kindly looked after my bags for a long time. Lovely people.
