Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter's by IHG

The room was clean, with heating and AC, and the shower had good pressure. The bar was nice too, with a man coming most evenings to play piano. The hotel is a bit outside the main attraction area, so we took an Uber to the town center for about £10 each way, though there’s also a local bus stop right outside. We didn’t eat breakfast there, so I can’t comment on that. We had a nice stay.

The bathroom setup was the one serious drawback. The tub shower sits beside a bidet, and the fixed glass panel leaves only a narrow way out. With soap on the tub surface, anyone older, overweight, or simply clumsy could be at real risk of falling. I grabbed something solid whenever I got in or out. I don’t know how that met safety standards. Apart from that, the hotel was top notch. The restaurants were worth the price, with a very high-quality breakfast and a separate dinner restaurant that was very good. The staff were professional, and the gift shop had good hygiene, gift, and travel items. My wife enjoyed the indoor spa pool, and the outdoor pool was large. The property was lovely and seemed well run. We were very happy and it was a pleasure to stay.

There’s not much close by, just a petrol station and one restaurant within walking distance. The nearest metro takes about 20 minutes on foot, though you can take a bus or cab. The hotel itself is old but has character, and my room was spacious and comfortable. The outdoor pool and bar area were wonderful, especially on a hot summer day. My other complaint is the very slow drainage. A shower left the tub full of water.

Our son had been really looking forward to the pool, so finding out that guests under 16 weren’t allowed to use it was disappointing and made things difficult for us. But after the staff listened to our situation, they arranged an exception so he could swim in the morning. That thoughtful gesture changed the whole feeling of our stay, and meant a great deal to our family. We’re very grateful for the team’s empathy, flexibility, and care. Their kindness is something we’ll remember. We recently stayed at Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter’s and had a very positive experience, mainly because of the staff.
