The room was like a prison cell. The floor was clean, but the walls were filthy, like an old train station. There was no ventilation in the bathroom and it smelled damp. The mattresses were awful and gave us a lot of back pain. There was nowhere to put clothes, just a small table where we kept some fruit, and a mini fridge in the hallway shared by four rooms. The TV and shower were old, parts of the shower were broken, and the water pressure was poor. Hot water took ages to come through. The building was in a very good area, but it was badly maintained and looked nasty. A very, very poor stay. I wouldn't recommend it at all, especially for families with kids.

There was soiled underwear in a bag when they gave me the room. I had my 9 month old baby with me, and couldn't get upstairs with the pram because they don't say that the lift won't fit one. They told me to leave the lift door open with the pram, as if that was safe. The owner also gave someone else a key to a room while that person was out, so they could use the toilet with all their belongings inside. Shocking place and service. They wouldn't refund me, and I'm still contesting it. I don't recommend booking here.

Be careful with your belongings. My son's pocket was stolen from our room, and when I asked for the camera footage to be checked, apparently the battery had died at that time.

We were happy with the location of the room and the staff were quick to respond and kind. I have no personal complaint about them. The woman who looked after the rooms was also very nice. But the room and hallway didn't resemble the Da Fede photos at all, and the address didn't match either. On our first day out, we trusted the location on Booking, got lost, and spent about an hour trying to figure out where we were meant to be. Comparing the photos and location with the place we were given left us convinced it wasn't what we'd booked. The floor hadn't been cleaned before check-in, with crumbs around the bed. We were given a room with a balcony, which seemed nice at first, but it was being used to store the cleaning staff's things. They came in each morning to get supplies, including a ladder on two mornings, then left it and other cleaning things back on the balcony while we were out. Waking up to people coming into the room and finding their things there again when we returned was disturbing. They should use somewhere else while guests are staying, so there's some privacy. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but I could have overlooked that if the rest had been acceptable. Da Fede itself looks lovely and clean, but I can't understand why we were put in a different building, on another street, in different rooms. When you reserve, you expect to get what's shown online. The whole experience left us with a really bad impression.
