Domus Fontis

The location is fabulous, and the room was small but fine. We only got in because someone else happened to come along. The directions were for once you were inside the front entry, but the big doors were locked when we arrived, and nobody answered the phone numbers at 9:30pm.

It’s a good location, close to everything, though the area gets very crowded during the day, especially at night. The room was comfortable and cleaned every day, and the hotel was very calm. I didn’t run into any other guests during my stay. Breakfast was good and brought to the room, as there’s no dining room. The room itself was fine. You get three keys, for the building's main entrance, the hotel entrance inside, and your room. Rita at reception was nice, though I only met her when I checked in.

For getting around, we could walk to so many of Roma's must-see sights in 20 minutes or less. We went to the Spanish Steps, the Colloseum, Villa Borghese, Piazza Navona, Campo de Fiori, and lots of shopping areas. The Metro at Barberini or Piazza di Spagna was a short walk away, and taxis were easy to find at the Fontana or the nearby stop on Via del Tritone. We were there for 7 nights in late February/early March, and since we think Roma is best enjoyed on foot, the location mattered a lot. Domus Fontis was perfect for us, just steps from the Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain). The B&B itself was fantastic, too. It has a bit of a hotel feel, but with only 4 rooms it still feels cozy. Our room was modern, meticulously clean, and very quiet. Breakfast came by cart at the time we chose, with fresh pastries, yogurt, prosciutto, cheeses, breads, and more. It was substantial, and we liked having it in our own room. The Nespresso machine was great for morning coffee and a pre-dinner pick-me-up. The owners and on-site staff were all wonderful to work with. We almost felt like we had our own apartment in Roma. We highly recommend Domus Fontis!

The room was nice, and the location is great. There isn't staff around most of the time, but their system works pretty well.
