The bed was comfortable, and the location made it practical to reach the tourist sights. The owner was very nice and answered every question. Still, the street felt unsettling at night: it had no lighting, and being near Termini station may have added to that feeling. People waited outside the door late at night, and once a girl came into the building after us, which made us uneasy. Our room’s window looked onto the center of the block and a strange balcony shared with another room. The air conditioner dropped after we used it.

Our room door was hard to open, and the sound insulation was so poor that noise came in all night. Hot water was a problem throughout the stay. There was also a lizard in the room, which kept us from sleeping comfortably, and nobody helped us get it out.

Getting in after hours was possible with a key box outside, though several locked doors and different keys stood between that and the room. There was no desk or floor fan. The room had AC, but it didn’t cool very well or move enough air for sleeping. The location is convenient for Termini and other sights, but the main street is loud, and neither the insulation nor the window kept the noise out. Trains, police, horns, and a garbage truck collecting trash at 2:00am went on through the night. If you’re used to New York or Chicago noise, you may be fine. If you want a dark, quiet place to sleep, this isn’t it.
