The blankets and the whole room were saturated with cigarette smoke. The bathroom smelled even worse, and the shower was so cramped I couldn't bend down to wash my feet. The bed felt like a trampoline. We'd just arrived in Rome after a long trip from Texas, and the smoke hit us as soon as we entered the room. I booked another hotel down the street for twice the price. Management offered us a different room but wouldn't refund any of the cost. We spent an hour there and paid 700 euros. I was glad to take the loss rather than let these accommodations ruin our 10-day trip.

The coffee was fantastic, and breakfast was good, though mostly sweet food. I stayed for ten days. The rooms were clean, and if you're traveling alone, yours will feel big. One thing that really bothered me was the sewer smell coming back up through the toilet at night. The hotel is right in the historic center, with public transport only five minutes away. Walking around Rome is great too, and you pass souvenir shops along the way.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is near both the train station and the sights. But the rooms felt so small that I was claustrophobic. The place looks as though it hasn't been updated in decades and needs work. The bathroom was very tight, and after flushing, the water just kept running.

The staff were friendly, professional, and hardworking, but the hotel itself has seen better days. There was mould on my ceiling, the furniture was falling apart, and the bed looked as if thousands of people's backs had left their shape in it. A little renovation could make a big difference. You can walk to pretty much any Roman sight in 5-30 minutes, from the Colosseum and Spanish Steps to the Vatican.
