Fabio Guest House Deluxe

Terrible, I can't recommend it. Unbelievable and awful! It's near the railway station, but far from downtown. The place was dirty, there were broken glasses in the bathroom, and the drains were badly clogged. After checkout, Fabio accused me of taking a sofa cushion from the corridor, though I don't even know what it looked like. He asked me to send €50 to his private account and said that otherwise he'd go to the police and we'd have trouble at the airport because of the police report. After I opened a case with Booking, Fabio cancelled my booking, so I couldn't post a review. In the end, I managed to send it through Booking customer service. If you want a good holiday in Rome, don't book this guest house.

I booked this place through a well-known booking site months before my trip to Rome, and the booking was confirmed normally. Less than 48 hours before I was due to arrive, the owner messaged to say they couldn't accommodate me, giving some fishy reasons: a bereavement and an employee with COVID. I'd already seen similar stories in a couple of earlier reviews. Be aware and be prepared.

The hotel cancelled my reservation in writing less than 24 hours before arrival, at around 11:30 p.m., with a poor explanation and no help or apology. It felt really unprofessional and a bit fishy. I could have been left in a worrying situation, since finding an affordable room at the last minute is impossible. The hotel waited more than 24 hours to officially cancel through the booking site, as if hoping I'd cancel it myself. Then I wouldn't have got my money back, while they still would have been paid.

The host was really good, and I loved how nicely decorated the place was. It’s beautiful.
