Golden House Roma

The bed linen and towels were spotless and smelled freshly washed, and the towels were especially soft. My room at this lovely B&B was comfortable and beautiful, with its own bathroom and a small balcony. I stayed four nights and found the service impeccable. I’ll definitely come back.

The refrigerator in the room and the building itself were the only decent parts of our stay. I won’t be back. We chose this B&B for one night in Rome because we only needed a place to sleep after a concert, and at first it looked fine. Later, we regretted booking it. The man who greeted us was kind, but what the booking site advertised didn’t match the room. The photos showed a blue bathroom, while the actual bathroom was outside our room, between two other occupied rooms. It was so cramped you could barely turn around, and it was dirty. When we stepped into the shower, we saw a silverfish. The sink leaked too, and I was disgusted by how poorly kept the bathroom was. The room looked all right at first glance, but when we pulled back the blanket and removed the sheet, there were dirty patches. The pillows had a terrible used smell, as though they hadn’t been cleaned. The floor was dirty and dusty, the whole room felt unclean, and there was a bad smell in the air as soon as we walked in. We didn’t get to discuss any of this with the owners. We didn’t see them again that evening or the next morning when we left, but I still wanted to share what happened. I recommend that people do not stay here. Truly shameful.

The owners were friendly, and the place was quiet. The room was a good size, with a very nice bathroom, and the period furniture gave the top floor a pleasant feel. The elevator, though, is very dated. I appreciated getting breakfast vouchers for a bar about 500 meters away, but it would be helpful to have a coffee pod machine at the B&B so I could have coffee as soon as I woke up. There were also two privacy issues: the bedroom balcony has only a small covered section, and I couldn’t leave the glass door open without being seen from across the way. The bathroom window had the same problem, though at least it only opens at the top.

The owners were so kind and helpful, especially "Nonna Lina," who really made the place feel like home. Our room was lovely, the bathroom was spacious, and everything was impeccably clean. We had such a great time that the usual five stars don’t feel like enough. If we come back, we already know where we’ll stay! Giada and Francesco from Cosenza.
