Grand Hotel Fleming by OMNIA hotels

The manager came to our room to check the TV and safe, neither of which worked, then said the heater was like that in every room and left without showing any empathy. About 15 minutes later he came back with batteries for the TV remote, then left again without another word. My husband isn't one to complain, but this was ridiculous. He'd asked management if we could move rooms and was told there were supposedly no vacancies. The heater wouldn't turn down, so the room was too hot and we had to open the window. The lights were all on the same circuit and wouldn't work independently. On our first day, the TV and safe were already broken. There was also black mold above the shower. The hotel was small and in a really rough part of Rome. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you want to avoid these kinds of problems on vacation. My husband is a carpenter and took some photos of the mold.

The first two women at reception were fantastic. Then Aurora, whose name I doubt is real, gave us the worst service I've ever had. She's a short, skinny blonde with glasses so big they look like a windshield. She yelled, was confrontational and rude, and had a bad attitude. The room was filthy, smelled disgusting, and had fingerprints everywhere. There was only one pillow, flat as a Mexican tortilla. The hall carpet tiles looked very cheap, and the place smelled like a medieval castle. The whole hotel had a strong smell of smoke. Internet service was awful, and the AC was switched off, supposedly because somebody had complained about being cold. The room was so hot we couldn't sleep the first night. It felt like a badly handled cost-cutting move. The listing said there was an iron, but it was on the first floor, so you had to take your clothes down to iron them. At dinner, we had the worst carbonara and Americans. We've had better food in the USA, even though this was homemade Italian food in Italy. Breakfast was bad too: cold eggs, chicken sausages that looked revolting, and bacon that had just come out of the fridge. The hotel ruined the first days of our Rome trip. If you want to waste your money and time, book it. The marketing must be excellent, because the hotel shown in the advertising doesn't exist.

The hotel itself was okay, but the staff were rude and treated foreigners badly. They charged a €20 deposit per person and seemed to find any excuse not to return it. There were also several groups of Italian schoolchildren staying there. They smoked joints, ran through the hallways, and kept guests awake.

The rooms are tiny for €136, the bathrooms are poorly designed, and the bedspreads were dusty and smelled bad. When I tried to take one off, dust and particles flew into the air. The staff were annoying and made fun of you. I asked for a bathtub plug because mine was missing, and they said none of the rooms had one. That wasn't true, because my friend was staying there too and had a bathtub plug. The service was terrible, and the hotel is far from central Rome, so you have to take a bus to reach the main places. Don't go here, it's awful and not worth the price.
